I watched this movie with my children and it really touched my heart . I think it was an eye opener for many teachers and parents as well. Instead of forcing children to learn we should let them learn in their own way.
this movie touched my heart too. These children need our understanding and acceptance. With little support and attention a lot can be achieved. One must treat them as individuals who have every right to be different and to learn in their own special way. I wish we could all become teachers like Amir Khan (in the miovie)
oh, don't ask me before watching this movie i never new how to help my daughter as she use to face a great problem with memorizing spellings. i helped her out in spelling in a more effective way. i also learned to be patient with children. its a great effort of Amir Khan.
Tare zameen pe was an amazing experience and gorgious Amir I am his big fan.Iam sure u wil not tell my husband he will be very jealous.Truely its worth watching. I think due to Amir's appearence the message behind is widely spread as most of the moms like him. Apart from Amir I think todays teacher have 0 percent tolerance which makes teaching itself terrible.Frustration, tensions, loads of work to do and financial crisis are some of the major issues and not to forget some of the inlaws give strains. These issues are generally faced by most of us and unintentionally it affects our work some where.I would like to quote here something'To gain respect its important to give respect'I truely beleive if I will respect not only elders but even those who r younger than me i will get the same.Children imitate their parents and teachers if u want to really know how u r as a teacher tell them to imitate ur role and u can surely make out how u r as a teacher but then do enjoy dont take it to heart.I can go on and on so u can imagine how much the film is liked by me and yes i know how precious children are because when u dont have something u do realise its preciousness more so those who have must take care dont just let it go!
Dealing with special children is a very serious issue which is the theme of this movie. As a parent and as a teacher we shouldn't be harsh with the children and deal with respect and care.We should work on building up their personality rather than shattering it and focus on their interest.

I saw "Tare zameen pe". The movie seems to have taken the entire sub-continent by storm.
The issue of special children & their needs is a very important one. And it has touched hearts & minds. It has highlighted the importance of a sensitive teacher. It has made a point that a good/great teacher can make a difference. The movie has added a new theme to the subcontinent's themes for movies. These are the contributions.
Unfortunately, it also has major faults. One is that the movie makers have not studied or understood the learning problems that they are dealing with. I also found lots of faults in direction. I believe when dealing with real & serious issues, people should do their homework.
but it lacks a tremendous amount of necessary research ... the kind of flaws that one witnesses in all amir khan movies!!! :D ... the dude picks up issues that he really can't handle ... in his effort to look different all the time he usually makes a total fool of himself :D ... say what, sofia?!!! :)
i understand that for anyone to understand what another is going through, it's important that they must have faced the same problems ... however, i doubt if it's human to want to help someone who has a similar problem as oneself ... i think its more natural to be in denial of it :) ... why? ... let me explain why!
in the movie amir khan says that the child is not abnormal ... special :D ... because his only obstacle is the way his vision is designed by God ... the thing that makes him different is that the majority of poeple see things differently ... who better than science teachers would understand what the "mirror effect" is ...
the question is "is there anything right about the way we see things?" ... and therefore "is there anything wrong about the way this child was seeing things?" ... actually the answer to both questions is NO!!!
yet, ladies ... you the "teachers" think that the movie is about a "special child" ... so did you really watch the same movie ... did you even listen to what amir khan was saying!!! NO!!! ...
because even you (the teachers) believe that everyone who is different "is abnormal" ... and nicely call them "special children"!!!
and that's why ladies, a man who has suffered from the dim-wit of society would rather become a best selling painter than a primary school teacher ... where poeple would casually resolve that since he was a pathetic student, he ended up teaching primary school art ... one of the least paid areas in even the education business ...
let alone that you expect me to believe that there can be such a selfless man,my question is who would take a teacher like him seriously? ... that lecture that he gave the father ... you think anyone would take something like that from a low achiever! ...
infact, it would have been more realistic if the father turned around and said that since the teacher is a spoiled brat he is making is his child the same ... so they choose when they feel like studying and when not!!! :D
nobody is abnormal ... nobody is special ... because nobody is a clone of another ... and that's why there is no list things that can prove a human being is normal or abnormal ...
personally i disagree with seperate schools ... school for special children ... school for normal children ... what is that supposed to mean?!!! ... another point which was argued in the movie and i appreciated :)
Woof Marium you have an entirely different view about Amir but then being a fan i can tolerate some of his mistakes as i beleive no body is perfect in this world atleast he has the courage to do something different not making the typical hindi films, if he feared that the movie failure or errors can make him look like a fool he would have not attempted but this is what i like about him he do what he wants to and is not scared of his failure.Yes you are right that it lacks tremendous amount of research but then to some extent i like the idea that parents sometimes do treat their children roughly and as a result when they go to school they cannot give their best. Some teachers do strive to build their personalities but its a team work between parents and teachers if we make parents realise how to deal with their children i think we can bring some change but mostly if u make someone realise they will say we know better r we their parents or u? but then its a deep struggle which teachers can to make this world a better place .Children we teach today r going to make the future .We are working for school of tomorrow as well as nation of tomorrow. So teachers I think your job is praiseworthy but do ask yourself r we doing justice to our job?
lols! you certainly are a fan! considering you are still defending him! ... a man who divorced his wife after three kids and ten years of "house job"!!! ... in my world, we don't talk about these poeple :D ... it's like they don't exist!!! :D
you certainly are a loyal fan to still protect the pervert who must have french kisses in all his movies :d ... work with every twinky walking into the industry ... and above all teach them how to kiss ... that pervert! what would he know about a kiss anyway!!! :D
... and then to shame the industry that honours him with awards over awards by never turning up at the award ceremonies! ... just because he didn't get them for the first few years, he must now pretend that it doesn't matter to him :D
there i have revealed my personal prejudices ... and so be it :D
but besides all that, i know that nothing can be perfect ... so why should the first attempt at making a movie about this kind of an issue be so ...
but the problem is that sometimes you do more harm by saying something and making the subjects involved look stupid ... like "mughal e azam" ... or whatever sonia jahan's movie is called ... like amir khan's movie on the war of independance ... like some bits of "khuda k liye" ... you should never make fun of the subjects!!! ... you should never tell their side of the story in a manner which contradicts the way they would tell their own story!
i'm not a movie maker but even i know that good script and good acting make a good movie ... not a beard!! :P
i personally liked the movie because of the kiddo ... he was real ... not born with a cute face ... but oh so cute because of his "harkatein" :D
and i agree that helping parents accept their children with all their strengths and weaknesses is an on-going struggle for the teachers ... i think i'd like to sit in your classroom ;)
but you see the parents in the movie hardly resisted amir khan!!! ... silly movie :D
i saw that movie though i hate indian movies but i do watch the fantasy movies of amir khan becuase they make me cry and it is like a doze to soften my heart...once in a year. i know his movies are not very practical towards real life but still i enjoy them because they atleast have some message other than vulgur dances and very little clothing. i am not a fan of amir khan but his movies are atleast not pathetic like other indian movies.
wow! and double Wow! I just wish i had seen this Indian film every one is so excited about. All I know is that its about a dyslexic child and i think if a film industry has the strength to address such an issue its a good thing to help people realize some of the cruel things they do to their children. Whether the documentary makers have been successful in doing what they wanted to is really secondary.
Besides, if Amir Khan gets a chance to hurl philosophy in our faces may be he will one day learn something about it himself.
I must say Wow too,not for the movie, but for the comments. I also liked the movie because of the role played by the child.I don't want to touch the issue as I think it's very sensitive....

ya i agree but its important to identify these children those who need our help and there should be curriculum designed to help them as well.

You are right. It really felt good watching a movie on one of the most important classroom issues.
